Mosses and brown moss

In alkaline fens, the moss flora is very rich. Some typical mosses include yellow starry feather-moss, maidenhair pocketmoss and marsh bryum. Some typical mosses are quiet brown, like hook mosses and scorpion-mosses.  Thats why alkaline peaty bogs are also called the brown moss bogs. The acidic peat bogs on the other hand are called the peat bogs.
